Perry County Veterans Project

In 2015, the Lafayette Spring Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in cooperation with the Perry County Museum, began collecting information and photos of Perry County veterans who served in the military in all branches, including the National Guard, from the beginning of our country's history to present. Veterans must have at some point in their life, called Perry County their home.

When the project first began, we estimated to have 300-500 people submitted for the project. However volunteers started combing through old newspaper articles, scrapbooks, obituaries, and local cemeteries to find the names of veterans no one had submitted. As of April 2018, there are over 5,000 names of veterans! Work has begun to organize and design the information for publication.  All work on this has been done by volunteers and when working with that many submissions, it takes quite a bit of time to check, and double check the information. A publication date has not been posted, and we are working toward this goal as much as possible.
